The short version
A failed sewer lateral used to mean one thing: a backhoe, a trench running the length of your property, and a restoration bill for the driveway, the walkway, the irrigation and forty years of landscaping. On a Southern California property with finished hardscape and mature planting, that restoration is routinely the largest number on the estimate — bigger than the pipe, bigger than the labor.
Trenchless methods remove that line item. We work through your existing cleanout or two small access pits, and the new pipe goes in from the inside. A cured-in-place liner forms a seamless, jointless pipe against the wall of the old one. Pipe bursting pulls new HDPE through while splitting the failed line outward. Spin casting sprays a structural wall through bends a felt liner can't pass. Nothing above ground gets opened.
The honest caveat, which you should hear from any contractor worth hiring: trenchless is not always the answer. A liner takes the shape of the pipe it cures inside, including that pipe's flaws. If your line has lost its fall, developed a belly that holds standing water, or collapsed, a liner will faithfully reproduce the problem. That is exactly why we camera every line before quoting anything, and why we'll tell you when the right answer is conventional replacement.

Trenchless lining is not a plumbing add-on. The installers who do it well do it every day, on the right equipment, with the resin chemistry and cure times the liner manufacturer specifies. That is what the directory listing looks at.

How a job runs
A sewer quote given without video is a guess, and guesses are how homeowners end up paying for a liner that was never going to fix the problem. Here's the sequence we follow on every job.
We run a push camera the full length of the line with an on-screen footage counter, then locate the defect from above ground so its position and depth are known precisely. You get the footage. Nothing is quoted before this happens.
Roots, grease and scale come out with hydro jetting and mechanical cutters until the camera shows bare pipe wall. A liner bonds to the host pipe, so this step determines whether the repair holds.
Based on what the camera actually showed, we recommend lining, bursting, spin casting, a sectional repair, or conventional replacement — and we tell you why the others were ruled out. The scope, price and timeline are in writing.
We pull the permit for the jurisdiction the property sits in and schedule the required inspections. Where a city adds historic district or right-of-way review, you hear about it before the work is booked.
Most residential laterals are completed in one working day. You will be without sewer service during that window and we tell you exactly when it starts and ends.
We run the camera again after cure and give you the recording. You should be able to see the finished interior end to end — a jointless wall with no intrusion, no offsets and continuous fall.

Instead of opening fifty or a hundred feet of yard, driveway and hardscape, we work through existing cleanouts or one or two small access pits. The pipe is rehabilitated from the inside, or pulled through from end to end.
Camera footage, every time. A CIPP liner takes the shape of the pipe it cures inside, so it can repair cracks, root intrusion and open joints — but it cannot correct a line that has lost its fall, collapsed, or developed a belly that holds standing water. Those conditions need pipe bursting or conventional replacement. Anyone who quotes you a lining price without running a camera first is guessing.
Most residential sewer laterals are lined in a single day, with the actual cure taking a few hours. Pipe bursting usually runs one to two days because the access pits have to be dug, backfilled and compacted. Conventional replacement takes longer — two to five days depending on length and how much hardscape has to come out and go back.
Not during the installation itself. For a typical residential job that means a single working day without sewer service. We tell you the window up front and, on multifamily and commercial jobs, we phase the work so the whole building is never offline at once.
CIPP liners are rated by the manufacturer for a 50-year service life, and TSR backs the lining work with a 25-year warranty. The liner itself is a jointless, corrosion-resistant pipe with no bell-and-spigot connections for roots to enter — which removes the single most common cause of sewer failure in Southern California's older neighborhoods.
Lining work carries a 25-year warranty. That is separate from the liner's rated service life — the manufacturer rates the material for 50 years, and the warranty is our commitment on the installation. Ask any contractor for both numbers; a rated material life quoted as though it were a warranty is a common and misleading substitution.
